Some people like to bolt them through the control panel for authenticity. I chose not to for a few reasons.
1) The new trackball plate from HAPPs does not have holes for the bolts to go through. Posts are welded on the bottom that the screws fit into.
2) Drilling the holes for mounting the joystick bolts would require some pretty precise measurements and drilling, neither of which I am great at.
3) If I was off a little I wasn't sure exactly where to buy a hole mover :) I also didn't want to purchase another piece of lexan if I messed up.
4) I wasn't going for authenticity but a clean looking panel.
So I just used wood screws and they seem to be working fine.

Good luck!

: OK, I'm going to have a piece of lexan over my control panel. What is the best way to drill the holes for the buttons/etc?

: My current thinking is to sandwich the lexan between my control panel and a piece of scrap wood and drill through all three. That way the holes are perfectly aligned and I don't have to worry about the lexan flying or cutting irregularlly.

: Looking for any and all comments.
