Well... this is what I tried...

I hooked up the trackball to my serial and booted the PC. Win98 picked up the trackball and it worked without loading any software.

It has a DOS driver disk, but I figured I did not need to put it on since windows picked it up.

I did move the mouse pointer 'speed' slide bar up and down, and after clicking on Apply and OK, I really didnt notice much difference at all in the movement of my cursor.

(I've changed this with a mouse and know what to expect...especially when the speed is turned way down or way up)

I guess I could try loading the DOS driver disk.. But I dont think that will really change anything.. Do you? (especially since it was working in Windows already...)

: : Hi everyone.

: : I just got a trackball off of the Yahoo auction site. It is the Quasar trackball that has the red and green led lights under the ball... I think some of you may be familliar with it.. :)

: : Anyway...

: : I'm quite happy with it... and I think I know the answer to this already, but I want to ask anyway...

: : In video games where you really had to give the ball a good 'spin'... like Birdie King2 and Side Pocket & others... if the ball is spun too fast in MAME, the object on the screen does not react correctly.

: : I find that I have to 'tone down' my spin to get the good hits and/or lots of speed.

: : Is there anything I can do to get a more 'true' spin out of this ball? (Even though I think I know the answer..)

: : The ball works super for games like Missle Command and centipede, but even in centipede.. I seem to remember, that I was able to 'whip the ball' and zip across the screen... very, very fast. (In the arcade)_

: : When I try to 'whip my trackball' in Centiped (MAME), the canon at the bottom of the screen, hits a max speed, then kind of 'glides' along the bottom of the screen at that max speed...

: : Thanks for any info you can give me... :)

: : Dave

: : p.s.
: : I have to go look around now and see how people have installed thier trackballs! :)
