Well, firstly, big no-no in this game is onboard sound or video chips. 4 things you can do here:

1. There should definitely be a way either in BIOS or via a jumper on the Mainboard, the disable the onboard video, and get your lost RAM back, then get a decent card. For Pre-1990 games most older Voodoo or Rage-type cards will suffice. The Diamond Viper V550 is very inexpesive and will go a long way, even today.

2. Upgrade sound card. This is not terribly expensive to do. You can still get Soung Blaster 16 Cards for under $50 and they're very compatible with just about anything. Stick with SB.

3. Ram. Up it to 64 or if you can, 128. It will go a LONG way.

4. If the Mobo supports it, buy a cheap $50 (or under) Pentium 233 chip. It's the highest you'll be able to go with Intel standard technology and the type of socket that motherboard is using.

Except for the ram, which unfortunately is very important, and kind of expensive whatever you're using, You shuld be able to effect the upgrade for under $200.

Good gaming!
