I'd say motherboard with a REAL video card. It's never a good idea to have system memory stolen for video uses. That board probebly has a third rate VIA (or whatever) chipset on it, which could also be contributing to the slowness under DOS. Get a faster cpu, better board, and more RAM. Oh, and a real video card.
