Don't quote me on this, but if memory serves me, they aren't. plus you'd have to go inside it's belly to interchange it regardless. Which leaves you the software control setup options. I am thinking they use a non changeable 8-way stick anyway, but I may be wrong. (I bet if you asked for a custom built one, they might could accomodate.. no harm in asking). Of course, it being interfaced with the PC... you can still rely on control setups to help you out. Still can be hard playing things like pac man, etc.
